It's not the shelters fault, they have been left with no choice. Please read on...

There is a dreadful situation at the Ramona Humane Society in San Jacinto. Please read below at the desperate email I have just received. I feel it necessary to pass this on to our community. Please reach deep into your heart and help save these animals by spreading the word of this tragic situation!
Hello,
As you know, I rarely send out mass emails, but this is an emergency.
The October wildfires and so many people losing their home have caused a dreadful situation at the Ramona Humane Society in San Jacinto, and I am hoping you, or someone you know, can help. Here is how I learned about it.
After recovering (more or less) from losing all three of my dogs in 2007, I am ready for a new dog. I went to www.Petfinder.com last Friday and located Daisy, a beautiful Border Collie/Aussie mix, at the Shelter. She was not a stray, but a turn-in by a family who had moved and could no longer care for her. (I know, I know, I don't get it either.) I drove over there Saturday afternoon to get her and learned that she had been euthanized that morning. This is not the Shelter's fault! They are swamped with animals because of people whose homes have burned, and they can keep an animal for only a few days before making room for more incoming animals. They have over 400 dogs on any given day. I walked up and down the rows of cages, some of them holding as many as 4 dogs, with tears streaming down my face. I saw so many beautiful, healthy, friendly dogs of all breeds, from chihuahuas to great danes, many of them obviously purebred, and many more fascinating hybrids, all of them asking me to take them home.
I didn't go over to the cat section, but I'm sure the situation there is as bad or worse.
Please, please, if you are thinking of getting a pet (even if you didn't realize you were thinking of it until just now), go over to the Ramona shelter. And please, if you know anyone who might want a pet, tell them about it, too. You can see some of their animals by going to www.ramonahumanesociety.petfinder.com and searching for Zip Code 92582 (plus any other criteria -- breed, size, gender, age). Even if you don't see anything you like on the web site, only a small fraction of their animals are listed. If you go to the shelter and walk around, you are sure to fall in love with at least one of these terrific dogs.
IMPORTANT: If you find a dog you might like on the web site, be aware that the dog might be just hours from death. Call the shelter, give them the dog's ID number and tell them to hold it for you because you're coming to look at it.
